These Terms of Service and Privacy Policy (together, the "Terms") govern your access to and use of Mirus, a web application owned and operated by Through The Looking Glass LLC, a Hawaii limited liability company ("Through The Looking Glass," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account, accessing, or using Mirus (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
These Terms may be updated from time to time as described in Section 15. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Mirus is a private, AI-supported space for self-reflection, built on principles drawn from Jungian depth psychology, Parts Work, and dream work. It is designed to help you explore your own inner experience through guided conversation.
Mirus is NOT any of the following, and you should not use it as such:
Mirus is built as preparation for, not a replacement for, professional care and real relationships. If you are in crisis, please see Section 4 below.
You must be at least 16 years old to use Mirus. The Service is not directed at, marketed to, or intended for use by children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If we learn that a user is under 16, we will terminate that account and delete associated data.
By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 16 years old and that you are using the Service for personal, non-commercial self-reflection unless you have a separate written agreement with us (for example, a therapist-partnership arrangement).
Mirus includes automated language-pattern detection intended to recognize signs of acute crisis in a conversation and to surface crisis resources when it does. This detection is a best-effort safety layer, not a guarantee. It can fail to detect crisis language, and it is not monitored by a human in real time.
Do not use Mirus as your response to a crisis. If you are experiencing any of the following, please contact emergency services or a crisis line directly, not Mirus:

Mirus is newly and publicly available, and is actively being developed. Features, pricing, and data practices described in these Terms may change as the Service develops. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of material changes as described in Section 15, and the Service is provided on an as-is, evolving basis, consistent with Section 11.
The Service requires you to create an individual account — using an email-based sign-in link or a password — before you can use it. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at the email address in Section 17 if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.
The core of the Service is the reflective content you choose to share — journal entries, dream logs, responses to guided prompts, and conversational exchanges across the app's reflection dimensions ("Your Content"). Your Content is among the most sensitive information you can share with any service, and we treat it accordingly.
To generate reflections, Your Content is sent to Anthropic, the provider of the Claude AI models that power Mirus, for the purpose of generating a response. Anthropic processes this data as a service provider under its own applicable terms; we do not control Anthropic's infrastructure, but we do not authorize Anthropic to use Your Content to train its models outside the terms of that processing relationship.
Creating an account is required to use Mirus. Once you have an account, Your Content is stored securely in our cloud database (via Supabase), which allows you to access your reflections across multiple devices by signing in.
Your Content may also be cached locally in the browser you are using, to support the app's normal functioning — this local cache exists alongside your account, not instead of it, and is not the primary place your data lives.
We provide an in-app data export feature so you can save a personal copy of Your Content at any time. If you request deletion of your account (see Section 7.6), Your Content is permanently removed from our database and cannot be recovered.
We may collect limited technical information necessary to operate the Service (such as basic usage and error logs) and, if you provide it, contact information such as your email address for account access, support, and product updates.
We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-respecting analytics service, to understand aggregate usage of the Service — for example, which features are used and where people encounter difficulty. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect or store personal information, and does not track individuals across sites or sessions. We cannot use it to identify you or to view Your Content.
You retain ownership of Your Content. By submitting Your Content to the Service, you grant Through The Looking Glass a limited, non-exclusive license to process, store, and transmit Your Content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service for you (including sending it to Anthropic as described in Section 7.2). We do not use Your Content for marketing or public display without your separate, explicit, written permission (for example, a testimonial you affirmatively agree we may quote).

Mirus is currently offered free of charge. We plan to introduce paid subscription tiers in the future. Before any paid tier launches, we will update these Terms to include applicable billing terms, cancellation rights, and refund policy, and you will be asked to affirmatively agree to those terms before being charged.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY REFLECTION, INTERPRETATION, OR OUTPUT GENERATED BY THE SERVICE WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR APPROPRIATE FOR YOUR SITUATION.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS LLC AND ITS MEMBERS, OFFICERS, AND CONTRIBUTORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Through The Looking Glass LLC from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, or as needed to protect the Service or other users. Upon termination, Sections 8, 11, 12, 13, and 16 of these Terms survive.
We may update these Terms from time to time, particularly as the Service develops, as data storage practices change (see Section 7.3), or as paid tiers are introduced (see Section 10). We will update the "Last Updated" date above and, for material changes, will make reasonable efforts to notify active users directly (such as by email) before the changes take effect.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Hawaii, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Hawaii, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
